Editorial Section (According to Charlie) Pro to Pro: If you’re like me, you consider a successful painting project one that comes off as smoothly as it goes on. Personally, the more experienced I’ve become, the more excited I get discovering new ways to achieve a higher level of efficiency and expertise. Q & A Section (Ask Charlie)
Q: Any thoughts on how to best prepare water-damaged areas for paint?
A: Start by eliminating the source of the water damage. Repair plumbing, exterior cracks, loose shingles or any other point where water cold be causing damage. If mold or mildew is present, use a mold-eliminating product from a hardware or paint store. Wash the surface with a non-soapy detergent, rinse and allow the surface to fully dry before priming. KILZ 2 Latex primer or KILZ Premium primer can be used on light water stains on interior or exterior surfaces. KILZ Original or KILZ Odorless should be used on medium/heavy stains to achieve maximum stain blocking on interior surfaces or KILZ Exterior on exterior surfaces.

Did You Know Section (Kwick facts)
A protective wrapper or “keeper” can be used to help a brush retain its shape. Good keepers have a tapered shape and are made from durable materials. Coated paperboard keepers are most preferred because they trap less moisture and dry out quickly.
